Songfacts®:

  • British singer-songwriter Talia Mar provides the vocals for this old-school garage banger. Mar started as a YouTuber and influencer before embarking on a music career. Her collaboration with Sigala on "Stay The Night" reached #11 on the UK Singles Chart earlier in 2022.
  • Talia Mar sings about her boyfriend's "sweet lies." She confronts her man about his cheating and warns him she's had enough of his playa ways.
  • Nathan Dawe has known Mar since she featured on "Real Name," a track from KSI's 2019 collaborative album with Randolph. The two agreed to collaborate when the time was right, and "Sweet Lies" was the perfect choice.

"It's something that's been in the works for a while," Dawe told Official Charts. "I've been testing it in front of live crowds and it's worked really well."
  • Dawe released "Sweet Lies" on October 28, 2022. "It's bringing a summer banger into the winter," he said.
  • Nathan Dawe co-wrote "Sweet Lies" with his regular topline writer Tre Jean-Marie, along with MNEK and Kamille. The Shanks & Bigfoot duo of Daniel Langsman and Stephen Meade also get credited because it samples their 1999 hit "Sweet Like Chocolate."
  • Dawe co-produced the confectionate banger with Relyt. London-based producer Relyt also sat in the producer's chair for S1mba's hit singles "Rover (Mu la la)" and "Loose."
