Songfacts®:

  • Nicole Scherzinger, who was previously the lead vocalist of the girl group and dance ensemble Pussycat Dolls, released a song called "Nobody Can Change Me" when the group broke up in 2010, but it was quickly pulled. "Poison" followed, and it was a hit in the UK going to #3. Lady Gaga's collaborator RedOne produced the track.
  • Scherzinger explained the song's meaning in an interview with the English Metro newspaper: "It's a big, aggressive, in-your-face, up-tempo pop record which has a lot of attitude. It's about the power a person possesses within."
  • The Joseph Kahn-directed video has a superhero theme and features Scherzinger in a skintight ninja get-up dance-fighting baddies. She no doubt perfected some of her moves and kicks on Dancing With The Stars, which the singer won in early 2010. Kahn previously worked with Scherzinger for the Pussycat Dolls' videos "When I Grow Up" and "I Hate This Part."
