Songfacts®:

  • Muni Long (pronounced "money long") is singer-songwriter Priscilla Renea, who has writing credits for Selena Gomez ("Who Says"), Chris Brown ("Don't Wake Me Up"), Fifth Harmony ("Worth It"), and Ariana Grande ("Popular Song," "Imagine," "Just Like Magic" and "Six Thirty"). She recorded this sensual cut for her Public Displays of Affection EP.
  • Here, Muni Long sings about finding a man she totally connects with on all levels. Following a series of toxic romances, she considered giving up on love until she met her partner. Now she wants to spend "Hrs and Hrs" talking to and making love with him.
  • Long first came up with the song as she was freestyling while washing the dishes. Producers Ralph Tiller (Jacquees "Say Yea") and Dylan Graham (Summer Walker's "Toxic") added meat to the bones.
  • Originally just a track on Public Displays of Affection, "Hrs and Hrs" went viral because of the #HrsandHrsChallenge on TikTok, where users post their efforts to imitate Long's complex vocal runs.
  • Uh, oh, ooh, mmm
I don't usually do this but, um
    Can I sing to you?

Long told Billboard the spoken-word intro was her way of being "silly." It also captures her desire to be seen as an artist as well as songwriter after her previous pop and country-soul albums flopped.
  • This won for Best R&B Performance at the Grammy Awards in 2023. Long was nominated for Best New Artist but lost to Samara Joy.

  • Kreole Kidd from LouisianaAt first listen I thought she was singing to another woman. I heard a young woman's laughter in the background when she said" I wanna sing to you". Hmmmmmmm. But either way the song is still fire.
