Songfacts®:

  • StooShe are a three-piece British urban group consisting of members Alexandra Buggs, Karis Anderson and Courtney Rumbold, who all hail from South East London. They were put together by writer/manager Jo Perry following a series of auditions, and were signed to Warner Music Group in August 2011. The girls released their first buzz single "Betty Woz Gone" on 28 October 2011. Karis explained the trio's name to Digital Spy: "We'd been working together for a few weeks and then just sat down one was like, 'guys we actually need a name!' So we were on this site called Urban Dictionary and we saw the word 'stoosh', which had a few different meanings. One meant 'stashed away', another was 'a girl who thinks she's nicer than she is' and the other one meant 'expensive'. We liked all of the contrasting meanings and then decided to add 'She' on the end to give it a little extra girl power."
  • This song first appeared online with the title of "F--k Me" on YouTube in March 2011, featuring rapper Suave Debonair accompanied by a music video. The clip became an internet hit, surpassing 100,000 views and attracting the interest of labels. Karis recalled to Digital Spy: "We just shot that video down Brick Lane having fun after writing the song in the studio, which is all about having a quickie! Then that sparked off the interest from the industry and we started getting loads of offers. We wanted it to do well, but we didn't expect it to get us the amazing deal we now have. We're really grateful for it."
  • The song was reworked into a more radio-friendly single titled "Love Me" featuring a guest rap from Travie McCoy of Gym Class Heroes and with production by Future Cut (Lily Allen, Wretch 32). Karis told Digital Spy why they hooked up with the American rhymer: "A few rappers sent in their verse, but it seemed like Travie took the time as he actually wanted to do it. It was very playful and so it seemed like he got the vibe of the track." It was released as the trio's first official single on March 4, 2012 in the UK.
