  • Yeah
    Well, well, well
    Yeah, hey
    Yeah
    Hey, hey
    Oh
    Driftin' on a memory
Ain't no place I'd rather be
    Than with you, yeah
    Lovin' you, well, well, well
Day will make a way for night
    All we'll need is candlelight
    And a song, yeah
    Soft and long, well, ooh
    Glad to be
Here, alone, with a lover unlike no other
    Sad to see
A new horizon slowly comin' into view, yeah
    I wanna be livin'
For the love of you, oh, yes, I am
    All that I'm givin'
Is for the love of you, alright now, oh
Lovely as a ray of sun
That touches me when the mornin' comes
    Feels good to me, yeah
    My love and me, well
    Smoother than a gentle breeze
Flowin' through my mind with ease
    Soft as can be, well
When you're lovin' me, when you're lovin' me, oh
    Love to be
Ridin' the waves of your love, enchanted with your touch
    And it seems to me
We could sail together in and out of mystery, well
    I wanna be livin'
For the love of you, alright now
    All that I'm givin'
Is for the love of you; you got me, girl
    I wanna be livin'
For the love of you, alright now
    All that I'm givin', givin'
Is for the love of you, oh, yes, I am
    Paradise I have within
    Can't feel insecure again
    You're the key, well
And this I see, for I see
Now and then I lose my way
Usin' words that try to say
    What I feel, yeah
Love is real, oh, love is real, oh
    I might as well
Sign my name on a card, which could say it better
    Time will tell
'Cause it seems that I've done just about all that I can do
    I know that I'm livin'
For the love of you, oh, yes, I am
    I know that I'm livin'
For the love, love of you
    Every, every day I'm livin'
    For love of you
    I'm livin' for the love
    Each and every day
I'm, oh, whoa, I'm, oh, yes, I am
I wanna say it one more time
    Said I'm livin'
    For the love
Each and every day I'm, oh, whoa, I'm
    Lord knows I am
    Write that down
    Said that I'm livin'
For the love, love of you

  • AnonymousThis was a magnificent record I'll never forget. Shared many happy moments with my guy at the time. The amazing thing about the Isley's was their great stuff was as good as their slow. Robin Carter
  • Markantney from BiloxeAug 2014,

Actually Ivan, you tell the "Right" Woman how much you like that song and why; I think SHE'LL be the one telling you it's going to be Played at your Wedding,... for she'll be the bride making all the arrangements:):):).
  • Markantney from Biloxi, MsJun 2014,

I'd rather die than decide which line in the song is best. I'll punk out and say they're all #1 but it's because of the backing "whooo-ooohhhh"s the Isley's sing in the background at the end of each line. The most vocal (background) seems to be after "Smoother than a gentle breeze" and after "Now and then I lose my way".

Man, that is the song of a lifetime.

Oh but I do think Ronald's riffing (aka "Croonin" when he riffs:):)) towards the end, before and after "I'm gonna say it one more time" and his "You got me girl", priceless.
  • John from Nashville, TnThis song has been recorded by such artists as jazz guitarist Earl Klugh, Boyz II Men, and a Grammy-nominated version by Whitney houston.
  • Eric from Los Angeles, NvOOOhhhhh yeah, grab my girl and slow dance offa' dis'....sing it in her ear....
  • Eugene from Miami, FlThis is the love song of all love songs. Love song do no and will not get better this. When Rudolph wrote this song he made a master peace. If you are in love, this is the song for you.
  • Whitney Robinson from Dallas, TxOne of the best songs ever! That imagery!

"Smoother than a gentle breeze/flowing through my mind with ease/soft as can be..."
  • Matt from Raleigh, NcLove the line "I might as well sign my name on a card which say it better". No card could speak about love like this song does. Good job Rudolph!!!
  • Ivan from Wodside, NyBest of all Isley songs. My wedding song if I ever get married no matter what the wife says.
