  • "Remember Me" was the first Journey song released after Steve Perry parted ways with the group. (Fun fact: Journey released three albums in the '70s before Perry joined the band.) It features their new lead singer, Steve Augeri, on vocals and appears on the soundtrack to the 1998 movie Armageddon.

    Augeri did about as well as a Steve Perry replacement could. He sounded a lot like Perry and could faithfully perform their hits, which kept the band alive as a touring act. He ended up leaving the group in 2006.
  • The song was written specifically for the movie Armageddon the Michael Bay disaster film about a team of oil drillers sent to destroy an asteroid on a collision course with Earth. It plays near the end of the film, which we won't spoil here, but you can probably tell from the lyrics of the song ("Remember me, I'll live on somewhere in your heart") that somebody is going to die a heroic death.
  • Steve Perry was a key songwriter in Journey, but Augeri didn't do a lot of writing during his time with the band. "Remember Me" was co-written by Jonathan Cain and Neal Schon of Journey along with Jack Blades of Night Ranger and Damn Yankees.
  • The Armageddon soundtrack also contains the Aerosmith hit "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing." It was a very successful album, going to #1 in America and selling over 4 million copies there.
