Songfacts®:

  • Marie Osmond was a little bit rock and roll, but she was the most country of the Osmond clan, with four #1 Country hits: "Paper Roses," "There's No Stopping Your Heart," "You're Still New To Me," and another duet - "Meet Me Montana," that one with Dan Seals.
  • Paul Davis wrote this song with Paul Overstreet. Davis is best known for his solo hits of the late '70s and early '80s, including "I Go Crazy" and "Cool Night," but by the mid-'80s he was in Nashville writing hits like "Bop" for Dan Seals and "Just Another Love" for Tanya Tucker. Overstreet was known for his songs recorded by Randy Travis, including "On the Other Hand" and "Forever and Ever, Amen." He got his solo career going in 1989 with his album "Sowin' Love." Many of his songs are about sticking through the hard times to maintain a lasting marriage.

Davis and Overstreet later joined Tanya Tucker to write and record another #1 Country hit, "I Won't Take Less Than Your Love."
  • Marie Osmond married her second husband, Brian Blosil, On October 29, 1986, when this song was climbing the charts. Their marriage lasted until 2007; they had two kids together and adopted five others.
