  • Shh, quiet, might piss somebody off
Like me motherfucker, you've been at it for too long
While you feed off others' insecurities
You stand in front of me and bite the hand that feeds

    Self-righteousness is wearing thin
(Lies inside your head, your best friend)
Heart bleeds but not for fellow men
    (Broken glass, your fake reflection)

    I've had enough
    It's time for something real
    I don't respect the words you're speaking
    Gone too far
    A clone

So how does it feel to know that someone's kid
In the heart of America has blood on their hands
    Fighting to defend your rights
So you can maintain a lifestyle
    That insults his family's existence
Well, where I'm from we have a special
Salute that we aim high in the air
    Towards all those pompous assholes
Who spend their days pointing fingers
    (Fuck you)

Shhh quiet might piss somebody off
Like the heartbeat of this country when antagonized too long
I'll be damned if you count me in as part of your generous hypocrisy
    Collecting enemies

    Tabloid gossip queen worthless man
(There's no need for us to bury you)
    Selfish agenda once again
(Right this way you've dug your own grave)

    I've had enough
    It's time for something real
    I don't respect the words you're speaking
    Gone too far
    A clone

All the way from the east to the west we
    Got this high society
Looking down on their very foundation
Constantly reminding us that our actions
Are the cause of all their problems
    Pointing their fingers in every
    Direction and blaming their
Own nation for who wins the elections
They've never contributed a fucking thing to the
    Country they love to criticize

Excuse the obscene, ignore the untrue
Depictions we see try and get through
    Admitting mistakes can hurt
I'm not the last but I sure ain't the first

Shh, quiet, might piss somebody off

    Self-righteousness is wearing thin
(Lies inside your head your best friend)
Heart bleeds but not for fellow men
    (Broken glass your fake reflection)

I've had enough, it's time for something real
    I don't respect the words you're speaking
    Gone too far

  • Alex from ‘mericaAvenged sevenfold is a great band and I love what they stand for. We need more patriotic voices in America. If people want to hate on our country and on our soldiers then they should leave because there’s no place for them here.
  • Unfortunate Scoffer from PolandFrom what i've seen below, in the comments, i think most people are missing the whole point. Despite lyrics, including troops, government, pointing fingers, etc. It's not about the actual supporting the war, and war-mongling politicians. It's about stupid people lacking common sense, who thinks the troops are to blame, for all the tragedies. It's the same, as blaming the stone, for rolling down the hill, not the man who pushed it.
  • Raleighredneck from Us Of AI absolutely love this song and what it stands for. I have family in the army/ national guard. For all you who hate the army screw off. Without them we wouldn’t be here. While we were sitting cozy in our homes our men were in horrible conditions getting little to know sleep. I’ve read stories of snipers staying up all night keeping guard or watching targets. Read a book called “Unbroken” it’s about a man named Louis Zamperini. One of my favorite books
  • PhoenixLots of people are asking about the foreign wars we are involved in, asking why are we even there? That’s a perfectly fine question to ask but it misses the point of this song:

Critical Acclaim is a middle finger to the people who condemn the soldier instead of the politicians sending them to the wars, and those who would consider soldiers and those who support the troops as lesser than they, the posh elites who are perfectly content to look down at their “lessers” from their ivory towers. The song targets the people who do nothing but complain when they have done virtually nothing to earn the privilege to complain.

Those who spit on the soldier, who call them “fascists” and “baby killers,” who think their choice of vote makes them better than soldiers: this song is meant for you.
  • Anon Girl from Txi love the song i hate the lyrics. I dont understand fighting for oil a thing to protect my rights. my dislike Is not even towards the troop is towards the government who is greedy and uses most funds to war when the only thing that a right that should be protected are my human rights. This comes to having free healthcare, not thats the essential right we all must have. Anyways, the lyrics are cringe. I love a7x but i hate their patriarchy
  • Nick from AzThis song is clearly about the population that live here in the GREATEST country that has ever existed and want to bitch and complain instead of taking control of their own lives and being a positive force in the world. they just want to yell and scream at the productive and useful people that make them feel small and useless.
  • AnonymousThought this was a song criticizing journalists, didnt look at the lyrics too closely though, however i think some parts could still be applied to the meaning i thought it had
  • AnonymousI'd like to see how fighting wars with other countries over oil and trying to "liberate" South Vietnam is "defending our rights" like all these comments are saying. I forgive those who fight in wars for they know not what damage they are causing they are just following orders and I don't believe are given the full picture of what it means to join the military prior to joining but these wars they're fighting are not to "defend our rights" and it costs so much money to go to war and that's what I don't support.
  • Bob Blore from CanadaCame here to figure out who was singing the additional vocals, surprised it was the Rev. Loved his voice, too bad he didn't get to do more.
  • Travis from Santa Maria/billings Ca MtDude just leave. Switch out with someone that wants to live here from another country. This country wasn't built with people like you. Either your with us and our boys that keep us a free country or your against us. You can't argue that. No body is trying to here your weak pencil pushing replaceable ass
  • Marina from Kentuckythe lyrics are cringe !!!
  • Logan from Cleveland, OhI'm not gonna say that people who hate soldiers deserve to die or anything, but they should at least be out into place, soldiers risk their lives every day and when someone signs that paper to join the military they're literally signing a paper saying that the government can do with their lives as they please, and if some liberal who thinks they're monsters for doing so should spend just one day in Iraq or Afghanistan and see how our great soldiers live while they sit there trash talking the people ensuring their rights to speak so wrongly.
  • Nolan from MichiganThis song is great, I also really love how A7X supports soldiers and police
  • Jeff from Redding, Capaul from the atl ur an idiot...u think these people dont exist look up shirley phelps roper and you will learn everything u need to...shes at the forefront of the hating on troops and protests military funerals calling all marines fags and sayin that she thanks god for ied's and thank god for dead soldiers. so unless u have all the facts dont open ur mouth...
  • Gabe from Washington Dc, Va@Zach, from Arizona... Show some respect for the Rev please. He died at 28, was an excellent drummer and I'm sure most fans will agree had a unique voice. Moving on though, GREAT song, GREAT band, just great in general. Avenged Sevenfold is one of the only bands nowadays that writes their own songs, and each one of them has a meaning to it.
  • Stew from Buffalo, United KingdomI agree with the message completely. While i may not support the war in Iraq, anybody who loves our country so much that they would die for it is cool in my book.
  • Jed from Ringgold, LaDude, Angela, seriously? If I was with a friend in the army & people started trashing him, I would go insane.
  • Peter from North Bend, WaThis song is freaking awesome!! Any singer who criticizes people that are against the war and troops I give a lot of props too! So many singers these days are liberals/democrats ranting on how screwed up are military and the war is. Not saying the bush was a good president but Obama is not the answer either...

    GO SHADOWS!!
  • Robert from Cleveland, OhPaul from atlanta, theres nobody pointing the fingers at troops? Guess you havn't been in uniform. While its not as bad as it was in vietnam, it still happens
  • Trent from Edmonton, AbActually, I think this song is more criticizing those who don't support the current administration's policies. It's pretty evident in the second spoken word section "All the way from the east to the west, we've got this high society looking down on their very foundation, constantly reminding us that our actions are the cause of all their problems- pointing their fingers in every direction, blaming their own nation for who wins the elections, they haven't even contributed a f---ing thing to the country they love to criticize". I base my interpretation on the fact that they are very vocal about voting for Bush in 2004.
  • Austin from Smallsville, New EnglandI do agrea with the message. I feel that sometimes people who don't like the war blam the soldiers. Putting the blame on them and making them look like the guilty.
  • Ethan from Dublin, GaWhile I do not support the War in Iraq, I always try to show my support for those in uniform and thank them for volunteering to fight for our country.
  • Dillon from Stockton , MoAmazing Song! My favorite. Agreed with the message too!
  • Paul from Atlanta, GaThe lyrics are absolutely stupid. There's nobody who "points fingers at our troops". He's ranting about nobody. He's angry at people who don't exist. Nevertheless, the song's still pretty tight.
  • Angela from Cartersville, Gayeah i agree too they do point fingers at people in the war just because they are in the war it really sucks cause my cousin is in the war and just the other day he was wearing his unifor and people were pointing there fingers at him and saying bad things about him. so i kinda flick them off but they diserved it and the cussing so SCREW THEM
  • Zach from Buckeye, AzI completely agree with Gabby and i love avenged sevenfold, A7X for short, and there my 2nd fav. band and whoever blames troops for there suffering is retarded and is completely disrespectful and Mean!
  • Thomas from New Orleans, LaI love this song! I am in Iraq right now and I think I listen to it almost every day. It means alot to me to hear bands show they care what is going on in the world besides relationships and love.
  • Zach from Autsin, TxThis song is badass, i just hate the way the rev sings. it sounds really gay
  • Erik from Brownwood , Txhell yeah! i think that the liberals that dont support our troops should crawl under a rock and die! if you dont support the war then take it out on the gov and the congress and the congressmen you elected to make your decisions. do NOT take it out on the troops that fight for your right to slander them . its not honorable. and it makes you look like a jack ass.
  • Andy from Hartford, Ctppl who do that crap should just go die. they have no idea what some ppl really do in iraq
  • Gabby from Austin, TxThey all sing in all of the songs on this new album because they wanted something different. The main message in this song is obviously criticizing people who can't seem to think for themselves and always place the blame on someone else. Meanwhile we have troops fighting for our rights and they still judge them. This song was meant to serve as a message to those who need to view the war on a different light and just support them while they are there; stop criticizing.
  • Ozzy from Fresno, Cathis is the second best song on their new album
  • Airk from Skagway, AkThe Rev sings in "Almost Easy" "Scream" "Afterlife" "Crossroads" "Lost" and "Brompton Cocktail" as well
  • James from Houston, TxThis is an awesome song and I agree with Avenged Sevenfold when they criticize people who point fingers at our troops in war
